I love how having a baby makes the busy-ness of life screech to a halt. I took several weeks around here to just rest and soak up sweet Simon and all his pink newness. And then, when I was ready to get back out into the world, there was a whole community of friends waiting.
We live in the little town of Rock Hill, South Carolina. We thought we wouldn't really like living in a small town. We were barely moved in before we realized we couldn't have been more wrong. We're half a mile from downtown, our church, the YMCA, my favorite grocery store, and the post office. I wish I had a mile-tracker on our Bumbleride to see how many miles Ralphie and I have gone all over this sweet place. Three blocks from our house is Glen Cairn Garden, the little patch of paradise. Caddy-corner to our home is a perfect fenced-in playground where we have spent hours and hours playing over the last year and a half.
But best of all we are surrounded by the richest community of friends we have ever experienced. It's like one big family spread all over Old Town Rock Hill. And when we get together, it's the sweetest of times.
Last night we cleared weeds from a garden bed to make room for fall vegetable seeds. Work was never more fun.

My little maternity leave is over, and I'm gearing up for a crazy, exciting fall. Stay tuned!
Love,
Ashlee
